ABOUT ZAKAT:

• The system of Zakat is in place since 1980 as a Federal subject.
• After the 18th Constitutional Amendment the subject of Zakat has been devolved to the Provinces.
• The Sindh Zakat & Ushr Act 2011 stands promulgated.
• Procedure of Zakat disbursement has been approved by the Sindh Zakat Council and is in place.

ROLE OF SINDH ZAKAT COUNCIL

• The Sindh Zakat Council to ensure collection & disbursement of Zakat & Ushr in the province in accordance to the Law.
• The Sindh Zakat Council acts as an apex body for formulation of policies & rules for implementation of Zakat system in province.
• The Sindh Zakat Council to constitute District Zakat & Ushr Committees in the province in   accordance to the law.
• The Sindh Zakat Council to oversee the process of constitution of Taluka Zakat & Ushr Committees and Local Zakat & Ushr Committees by the District Zakat & Ushr Committees in the Province.
