AUQAF DEPARTMENT
- Sindh Auqaf Department came into existence in 1970 after dismemberment of one unit.
- In 1976 the Auqaf Department was made a Federal subject under the control of Ministry of Religious Affairs, Government of Pakistan.
- The Auqaf Department was again made a Provincial subject in 1979 and the Sindh Waqf Properties Ordinance 1979 was enforced.
- The Auqaf Department is revenue generating entity getting income from Nazranas Waqf Properties and other means and all the collected amount deposited in Sindh Government Account No.1.
- The Notification of “The Sindh Auqaf (Appointment & Conditions of Service) Rules 2016 was issued on 20th October 2016.
ADMINISTRATIVE SETUP
- The field administration is headed by Chief Administrator Auqaf (BPS-19) and cadre officer posted by Services, General Administration & Coordination Department, Government of Sindh.
- For the smooth working and proper monitoring the administrative structure of Auqaf has been divided into three zones headed by:
- Administrator Auqaf Karachi
- Administrator Auqaf Hyderabad / Mirpurkhas
- Administrator Auqaf Sukkur / Larkana
- The each zone is further divided into 21 circles, headed by a Senior Manager / Manager.
FUNCTIONS
- To manage and maintain proper arrangement of Waqf Properties including Dargahs & Mosques like security, cleanliness, drinking water, Wazookhana, lavatory blocks for performance of religious rites at the Shrines and Mosques.
- To construct Musafirkhana, Langerkhana, Lavatories etc at the various shrines for providing maximum facilities to the visiting Zaireens.
- To generate revenue from the Waqf Properties, contracts, rent and lease etc.
- To collect Nazranas offered by the devotees and maintain their accounts properly.
- Nazrana offered by the devotees and other means i-e rent, contracts as well as lease money amount being deposited in the Govt. of Sindh A/c No:1 in other sub A/c 038 through challan in State Bank of Pakistan Hyderabad.
- To provide financial assistance to Orphans, Destitute and disable persons.
